Kinetic Church of the Nazarene is a new start church in Cushing, Oklahoma

The Kinetic Church Story

In our previous life, Ben was a Division I women’s basketball coach at Utah State and Boise State. Alycia was an elementary school teacher. Between 2012 and 2020 the Lord gave us 6 children: Zane, Jude, Rose, Lyle, Coen, and Fern.

In the past, we moved from state to state following jobs, always volunteering at a church and other local ministries. We had a dream of raising our children on acreage and giving more of our time to God. The more that we committed our time to ministry, the more we felt God calling us to a lifestyle of ministry.

The Finkbeiners moved to Cushing, OK in the summer of 2020. Never having been to Cushing before, we purchased land to build a home before we had a job, friends or a church family. We decided to attend a small church called Cushing Church of the Nazarene. We volunteered to help the church with family ministries. Sadly, the church was closed only a few months later in December of 2020.

In the spring of 2021, the Northeast Oklahoma Nazarene District approached us about planting a new church in the old building. We prayed about it for a long time and ultimately knew God had called us to plant churches.

And so, Kinetic Church was born. We chose the name Kinetic because it means movement. We want people to see what faith in action looks like. We knew we weren’t planting a Sunday Church, but an Everyday Church! The front door of this church is in our homes, with our Kinetic Teams on neighborhood missions. At Kinetic Church, we are ALL missionaries in a mission field on a mission. Our mission is to See a Need, Meet the Need. Our vision is to see our city saturated with the Gospel by creating an ecosystem that multiplies disciples of Jesus Christ.

God has certainly been faithful! We have witnessed tremendous growth and true impact. In the summer of 2022, we had our first baptism service and we just keep baptizing in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
